Home win for Bridges
Bridges grabbed only their third home win of the season and completed a rare League double over Whyteleafe in the process. It has to be said that Bridges had the rub of the green when it mattered most, but the work rate of every single player made them worthy of the three points. And there were some quality goals to drool over as well!
The first if these came after eighteen minutes when Abu Touray laid the ball off nicely to Tony Garrod, who curled a delightful shot away from keeper Ben Bridle-Card. Touray might have netted himself soon after and Kieran Allen-Djilali saw a free kick blocked, whilst in between Daniel Ajakaiye scuffed his shot horribly after being set up by Nathaniel Williams for the visitors.
With recent signings Alex Rose, Lee Hall and former Whyteleafe skipper Jensen Grant all performing well for Bridges, it seemed only a matter of time before they extended their lead, and on the hour Touray sent GARROD clear to cut inside and fire his second of the game in style.
Martin Grant had to make one outstanding point blank save from Scott Day as Whyteleafe briefly threatened, but after 76 minutes came another superb goal. ONEIL ODOFIN had already seen a header crash against the crossbar although he was deemed to have pushed an opponent in the process, but this time he rose magnificently to meet Steve Sargent's corner with a powerful header.
And after 81 minutes an unfortunate slip by visiting skipper Terrell Forbes led to TOURAY getting the better of a chasing defender to steer the ball home and at last be able to celebrate his fiftieth Bridges goal after a two year wait!
