Awards Night 2017-18

2 weeks ago By Lorraine Bonner

Awards Dinner was held on 5th May at Three Bridges Football Club - and the winners were.....

This year's Awards Dinner was held at the Club on Saturday, 5th May 2018 with 120 people attending the 3-course dinner, preceded with fizz and canapés on arrival. After the dinner, the awards were presented which were as follows:

FIRST TEAM

PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR - JENSEN GRANT

CRAWLEY OBSERVER PLAYER OF THE YEAR - NATHAN CRABB
Nathan was on crutches after sustaining a broken leg (and subsequent operation) at our last game at home to Worthing United just the week before and is likely to be out for 6-9 months. Skipper, Jamie Crellin, stepped up to give Crabby the award and also to inform him of the Just Giving page he had set up and raised over £800 in donations to support him and his girlfriend during his time off work!

MANAGERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR - JAMIE CRELLIN

SUPPORTERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR - JOHN LANSDALE
The ever popular John was presented the award by season ticket holders, Chris & Marc Kitcher

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR - BRADLEY PETERS
Bradley received the U21s Player of the Year last season and broke through to the First Team this season, playing 27 games in total (7 off the bench) while still featuring for the U21s until the latter part of the season.

TOP GOALSCORER - CONNOR FRENCH
This is not an Award the Club usually give but this year there were a number of players in contention and all battling for the award so we thought it unfair not to reward anyone.
Connor was also given a "One Club One Season Award" for this being the first season he had stayed at the same club for the whole season - bit of banter!!!

GOAL OF THE SEASON - LEE HALL
This award was for Lee's spectacular fierce low drive away to Pagham on 5th September. There had been a few other close contenders, but Lee's was deemed to have been that bit more special.

100 APPEARANCES - MATT WHITEHEAD

U21s PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR was awarded to Captain, ALFIE BERRY
U21s MANAGER'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR - NICK CASTRO DA SILVA, another player who featured in the First Team squad a couple of times this season and a good prospect for the First Team next season
U21s CLUB PLAYER - MASON DOUGHTY (another good player banging on the door of the First Team)

The U18s Awards were presented by the Team Sponsor, John O'Dwyer of McDonalds:

U18s PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR - CHARLIE WELLER (another Captain to receive an Award)
U18s MANAGERS' PLAYER - TOM HUGHES
U18s CLUB PLAYER - BILLY IRVING

There were then the annual Special Awards:

DAVE SHARPE AWARD chosen by Keith George for someone who always gives 101% - LEIGH BROWN

SIMON ROLLINGS was the popular choice for THE TOM GORRINGE MEMORIAL AWARD annually presented to the CLUB MEMBER OF THE YEAR

STEVE WHITE picked up THE BOBBY NASH AWARD chosen by the Chairman Paul Faili.

There were then TWO extra special awards given out.

The first was to PAUL FAILI for 25 years as manager at the Club, 10 years of which he served as First Team Manager before stepping down at the end of this season, handing the reins to Martin Dynan. Jamie Crellin then presented a Club home shirt signed by all the First Team players.

The evening closed with a LIFE TIME SERVICES AWARD to NORMAN PARKER. After a presentation describing Norman's footballing career and injuries, Norman was presented with a crystal glass for his services as Club Groundsman since 1993 until he retired at the end of this season.

The evening then carried on with music until the early hours - a great night was had by all!!
